The Openning Ceremony of EU Grant Project Implemented by Portimao and Bayraklı Municipalities has been held on 4 December 2023

Under the auspices of Town  Twinning Between Turkey and the EU – II  For a Green Future Grant Programme;  Portimao (Portugal) and Bayraklı Municipalities started implementing the “BiomaterialKIT- Practical and Pedagogical Experience for Sustainable Consumption” project on 1 November  2023.

The Opening Ceremony of the project has been held at Bayraklı Municipality Social Activities Hall on 5 December 2023, with participation of Dr. José Cardoso (Portimao Municipality), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Onur Mengi (Vice Dean of Izmir University of Economics), Prof. Dr. Aöerico Mateus (Ismat University, Portugal), Prof. Dr. Ender Yazgan Bulgun, Prof. Aslı Ceyhan Öner (Izmir University of Economics) and Bayraklı Mayor Mr. Serdar Sandal.

Making a speech at the meeting, Mayor Sandal said, Our target is “Green Bayraklı, green future.” Bayraklı Municipality, which continues its efforts to leave a greener and more modern Bayraklı for the future; will implement the grant project under EU-supported “Town Twinning for a Green Future” programme in cooperation with Portugal’s Portimao Municipality. Within the scope of the project ‘Practical and Pedagogical Experience for Sustainable Consumption’, two municipalities will become twin cities, and projects with the themes of green future, sustainability, nature and environment will be implemented. Bayraklı’s climate adaptation action plan will be prepared, and local strategies will be developed regarding climate change and development. Mayor Serdar Sandal said, “We have a responsibility towards future generations and we want to leave a green world to our children. For this reason, we attach great importance to climate change, nature, environment, and green future projects.”
